Kids Ministry job description
All Saints Anglican Church, Balgowlah
The position of Children’s Ministry Coordinator is a part time position, 30 hours per week, paid in accordance with the Diocesan guidelines for a stipendiary lay worker. At All Saints our mission and vision is to grow disciples of Jesus Christ for life as we live as an inclusive people, united in diversity in Christ, for the benefit of God’s world. Your role as Children’s Ministry Coordinator will be to both disciple the children in our Church community, and to reach children and their families with the gospel that are outside of our community and connect them into our church.
This is a maternity leave position for 12 months with the possibility for continuing after 2020.

Position Requirements
• Must have a love and a passion for working with Children and their families.
• Must have or be working towards a theological qualification (Degree/diploma).
• Must have at least 2-3 years experience in serving and leading in Children’s ministry, and be a
competent teacher to children.
Key Focus ministries for 2020 and what your role will entail
Play Group
• Run on Wednesday mornings each week of school term
• Plan teaching program/songs
• Gather and encourage a team of helpers with the view to connecting with families
• Advertise & follow up families who come.
Kids Church
• Teaching every week in the K-6 program
• Providing or writing curriculum for both groups (before school and school aged)
• Find or confirm volunteers
• Organise training events for leaders
• On the Job training of Leaders in training (high school leaders at kids church)
• Keeping in touch with, connecting with and supporting the families who come.
Scripture
• Teach a minimum of 2 classes
• Coordinate scripture teachers and classes at our 2 local schools
• Ensure all teachers stay up to date with Safe Ministry, WWCC and SRE training
• Support teachers (Pray, Meet with individuals, Visit classes)
• Recruit and train new teachers for fill in etc.
• Run Easter and Christmas assemblies in conjunction with other teachers (although mostly
independently run)
• Build connections with the school through working bees, carnivals or other help.
Holiday Program
• Run a children’s program in the July School Holidays
• Plan and organise (we have many years of programs that can easily be recycled or adjusted)
• Recruit a team
• Advertise
Other Responsibilities
Training and Safe ministry
• Ensure all church members in ministry with under 18’s plus staff and parish council have their WWCC
up to date. Update our data files as completed
• Ensure all church teams complete Safe ministry training & keep paperwork up to date
• SRE accreditation for all new teachers (train yourself if able or send to training)
• Kids Church Leaders (Biannual event @ All Saints & encourage conference participation)
• Scripture (encourage SRE conference, observe teachers annually & invite to biannual training at All
Saints) Preschool Fun Days
• These are like extended play group days run on Wednesdays in the school holidays at St James Preschool for the added benefit of greater connection with the preschool families.
• Gather a team. Advertise, plan and run programs Kindy Connection
• 90min two mornings a week connecting with parents and kids during morning drop off and morning meeting. Share bible stories and songs.
• Be the face of the church at special events such as giving Bibles to graduating children, helping at working bees, family discos, Christmas partied and any other opportunity available to build the relationship between St James and All Saints
• Run a Family Service with kids performing and teachers engaging up front during Term 3 Family Services
• Organise one in each of the first 3 terms of the year Easter & Christmas
• Good Friday– organise a Children’s program
• Easter Sunday – get creative with Kids in church service, this is a half normal/half family service.
• With staff team organise the early evening family services on Christmas Eve (this could include service
leading or speaking, running a drama or puppet play as the message)
• Teach an object lesson and provide an activity booklet for the children on Christmas day
Holiday Kids Church
• Coordinate teachers & program for K-6 so our regular team get a break.
Other
• Staff meetings– weekly
• Attend Kids ministry network meetings (when offered – approx once a term)
• Attend 1 kid’s ministry and 1 SRE conference
• Read 1 leadership based book
• Attendance at Sunday Night Church and a Small group of your choice.
